Cavendish should have been given more Support

Chris Froome recently stated that Team Sky had been denied of more stage wins at Tour de France because of their own faults. Few days ago, Mark Cavendish opines that if Team Sky showed a little more aggressiveness in riding the Tour then they would have come up with both the green and yellow jerseys at the end. Froome’s recent statement seemed to have justified Cavendish’s comment.

Froome also felt that Cavendish himself was denied of the promises that were made to him by Team Sky. He claimed Cavendish to be a remarkable stage winner but because of his team’s concentration on the yellow jersey he had to keep aside his own dreams of winning record number of stages in the Tour. Chris Froome seemed a little frustrated with his team’s biasness over Bradley Wiggins but he reported that he didn’t have any difficulties in keeping aside his own ambition for the team’s benefit.

He asserted that cycling is a team game and it is always thought that the most reliable would go for the best shot. Froome values the team’s strategies more than his individual goals and this is why he is not disappointed with the results, though it seemed that if Team Sky was a little aggressive then he would have easily won two more stages.

On the other hand Bradley Wiggins, who is suffering a rib injury, already stated that his main goal would be now next year’s Giro. It significantly implies that Team Sky will go with Chris Froome as their protected rider in the 2013 Tour de France. On being asked about the chances, Froome said that it hasn’t been decided yet but Wiggins’ interest on Giro is true. He also agreed that it would give him more opportunities to focus on the Tour next year.
