By the clock Boris Johnson’s full term as the mayor of London is over, the new generation of “cycle superhighways” would be close to almost being finished.
Yet his sight of a city criss-crossed by unintegrated cycle pathways divides opinion.
Canary Wharf Group chief executive Sir George talked for a lot of people when he called them a twentieth century solution to a twenty-first century trouble, stating they would aggravate rather than resolve the congestion problems of the capital.
Head of the property developer Sir George told that he hesitate to say a nineteenth century solution because in the nineteenth century they knew what they were doing. To strangle the traffic is not helpful. If one comes to Tower Hill any morning, there is a tailback of commercial vehicles – miles long.
Journalist Andrew Gilligan who is mayor’s cycling commissioner, told that consultations and polls have revealed a majority of people want betterments for cyclists. There always is noisy objection, but they always turn out to be from the minority.
Chris Froome is in full support of 24 hours of drug testing. The 2013 Tour de France champion is a strong critic of using PEDs in cycling & is ready to take up anything to clean up the sport.
Froome’s statements follow a derogatory report on doping & criticism by erstwhile Olympic road racing champ Nicole Cooke.
According to Cooke, the Brit rider was wrongly granted a TUE (Threapeutic Use Exemption) during Tour Romandie in 2014 where he came up with a great victory.
The Tour de France 2013 champion has not ever failed in any drug check in his career & confidently welcomed the new policy of 24 hours of drug testing in cycling sport. He tweeted recently saying- “If that could help in cleaning up this sport which I love so much, let us do it.”
The Sky rider was suffering from chest infection on which UCI granted him TUE last year.
Cooke has also criticized UCI chief Brian Cookson regarding the doping issue in cycling. According to her, the new UCI boss has failed to get a firm grip over TUE abuse & it has been legally permitting riders to take to banned substances citing medical conditions.
“I do not feel that it’s okay to take off Chris’ race & prize money retrospectively yet Cookson should come up with a clear message. Brian needs to seek apology from the other cyclists for failing the riders”, stated Cooke. (more…)

The last time Chris Froome rode this race was in 2011. He got the 50th place that year. But this year Froome appears to be positive about doing well in the race. He has even said that it is likely that he will become the winner of the race.

To win the Tour de France is Chris Froome’s main target as he announced even though he left a hint that he will put efforts in other races too.
In 2013 October, he had hinted that he may give the 2015 race a miss to take a shot at Vueltaa España and Girod’Italia. He feels that both these races give a more balanced route perfectly suitable for his climbing skills and time trials.
The race to be held next year will only have 14 kilometers for individual time trial on the day it opens in Utrecht. (more…)
In the beginning Chris Froome was not keen on participating in the Tour de France of 2015. He did not seem much excited about riding in the race. When the route was announced last month he was not present and was thinking of not participating. His target was the tour of Spain and Italian tour in May.
It does not come to light that he has to skip the race which is going to take place in July next year. It is all the more disappointing as Froome is hailed as the favourite in this tournament and he is going to miss out on the events. Going by the interview of the Team Sky it seemed evident that he had plans of leading the team. Next year he wants to make a comeback with confidence. It is a motivating factor for him. He has liking towards completing the race and as quickly as possible. 2014 tour was abandoned by him as he was unable to participate with a hand that was broken and fractured at the same time.
He is ready to train for 2015 and wants to start off with new start. His tour of Kenya and South Africa were not up to the mark and hence he became disappointed. He wants to go in with a fresh mind and start the year with new vitality. He has some of the best feelings from the tour of Spain. The yellow jersey was grabbed by Nibali with a victory in 2014 which was dominant. Froome does not look happy with the tour as opposed to Nibali. He has his goals set for 2015 and after that he is looking forward at the Tour de France. He is happy with the tour and his performance so far though.
