Sir Hoy Questioned On ID At Own Velodrome

Commonwealth security guards seem to be too cautious this year and Sir Chris Hoy would readily offer the brightest testimony to it. The iconic Brit cyclist was reportedly & asked to show his ID at a famous velodrome which, ironically, has been named after him.

Yes, the most successful Team GB Olympian was questioned on his identity by the security guard as he was about to foray into Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome this Commonwealth tournament. The sad part is that there’s no kind of special arrangement for the much revered Scottish hero when he tried to get access to his own velodrome & actually had to struggle to convince the guard about his identity to gain permission for watching the action live.

The guard, however, was really embarrassed. “Please, please, could you kindly seek apology from him”, she told a reporter. “My mum is gonna kill me!”

The interesting bit is that Sir Hoy was not much perturbed on the guard’s action at the Chris Hoy Velodrome. Always a sport and a great human being, the 6-time gold medalist played completely cool even when everybody was seen making a huge commotion about the incident

“She was simply performing her job!!”, Sir Hoy tweeted in reply to Daily Record’s tweet heavily condemning the guard on her interaction with Sir Hoy at the Commonwealth velodrome. “Sir Hoy stopped & asked for identity proof to get into Sir Hoy Velodrome”, stated the tweet from The Daily Record.

Hoy was once again a great man that day not only because of his considerate reaction but also because he helped out to read the honorable message from the Queen. Malaysia’s Prince Imran, who also presides over Commonwealth Games, was supposed to open up the baton containing the royal message. But he was actually struggling and Hoy readily came up as a much needed aide in opening the lid & getting the message out.
