Froome happy with Team Sky

At Tour de France 2012, we saw a remarkable performance of Chris Froome. As a reward of that Froome had been selected to lead his team, Team Sky, at the Vuelta a Espana 2012. Vuleta happened to be the last Grand Tour of this season and Froome was excited to have the opportunity to lead his team at that.

Froome reported that it was a wonderful experience and he loved every bit of it. To instruct his boys for the first time seemed a lifetime achievement for him. He himself did a magnificent job there by holding on to the first position for several stages.

But at the end it was Alberto Contador who claimed the victory. He was lagging by 10 minutes and 16 seconds when Contador finished the race. At the end he had to be happy with the fourth position while Team Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde Belmonte claimed the second spot and Team Katusha’s Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver finished third. Fourht might not get you much in a casino but in the Vuelta, a fourht finish is still ridiculously impressive.

Chris Froome secured 93 UCI points to finish at the sixth place overall and he shared a varied experience about Vuelta. He expected to do much better than he got but still he was not that much thwarted with his team’s performance. He thanked his teammates for supporting him throughout and giving him the confidence.

When Froome participated in Tour de France nobody expected him to finish at the second spot, but to everyone’s surprise he rode amazingly to finish just after his teammate Bradley Wiggins who became the first ever Englishman to bag the title of Tour de France 2012. With 376 UCI points, Chris Froome now holds the seventh spot as far as the UCI World Tour Elite Men Individual Rankings are concerned. His teammate Bradley Wiggins is at the top of that table with 601 points with Joaquim Rodriguez, Tom Boonen, Vincenzo Nibali, and Alejandro Valverde following him.
